A California food company has voluntarily recalled several sandwiches and snacks sold in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington due to potential Listeria contamination. The recall affects products from Fresh & Ready Foods, which were distributed between April 18 and 25 to vending machines and break rooms in corporate offices, medical buildings, and healthcare facilities.
The recalled items, with “use by” dates ranging from April 22 to May 19, include pre-made ham and turkey sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, tuna pasta, and a street corn dipper snack. These products were sold under the Fresh & Ready Foods, City Point Market Fresh Food to Go, and Fresh Take Crave Away brands.
The issue was discovered during a routine FDA inspection, which found Listeria monocytogenes on a piece of equipment. In response, Fresh & Ready Foods, based in San Fernando, California, immediately removed the affected equipment to address the problem.
Listeria can cause serious infections, particularly in pregnant women, newborns, adults over 65, and those with weakened immune systems. While no illnesses have been reported, the company has provided a list of recalled products distributed between April 18 and 28.
