The Food Taipei Mega Shows 2024 attracted over 5,000 international buyers during its four-day run from June 26-29, bringing together more than 1,600 local and international exhibitors. Organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the event saw a notable 10 percent increase in exhibitor participation and a 6 percent expansion in exhibition space compared to the previous year, reflecting the robust growth and potential of Taiwan’s food industry.
Held at Hall 1 and Hall 2 of the Taipei Nangang International Exhibition Center, the Mega Shows encompassed FoodTaipei, Foodtech Taipei, Bio/Pharmatech Taiwan, TaipeiPack, and Taiwan Horeca. The event drew over 50,000 visitors, including more than 5,000 international buyers from 77 countries and regions. Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and the Philippines were the top five regions represented.
Global Participation and Business Engagement
TAITRA chairman James Huang emphasized the international scope of this year’s event, which featured national pavilions from 22 countries including Eswatini, Saint Lucia, the US, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and the Czech Republic. Notably, Spain made a return after a five-year hiatus.
To foster business opportunities, the event facilitated 855 meetings, allowing 149 international buyers to engage directly with Taiwanese exhibitors. These interactions were pivotal in driving business negotiations and partnerships.
Focus on Innovation and Sustainability
The 2024 Mega Shows centered on two main themes: Food for Future and Food Safety & Sustainability. In partnership with the Food Industry Research and Development Institute, TAITRA introduced a Future Food Pavilion. This pavilion highlighted innovative products and technologies under three core concepts: Low Carbon Food, Smart Precision Tech, and Circular Sustainability.
A key highlight was the integration of AI into the food industry, with companies like Beckhoff, ifm, ANStek, and Chieftek Precision (CPC) showcasing technologies in automation, monitoring, and miniature robotic arms. These advancements aim to enhance transparency in the food supply chain, ensure food safety and quality, maintain productivity, and keep businesses competitive.
Showcasing Taiwan’s Agricultural Excellence
Under the theme “Share Taiwan Agriculture with the World,” the event featured 92 top-quality Taiwanese exhibitors. The pavilion was segmented into five main areas: Exquisite Agricultural Products Zone, Livestock and Poultry Products Zone, Seafood Products Zone, Age-Friendly Products Zone, and Rural Good Products Zone. Companies such as Wan Shen, The Green Farm, Wei-I Foodstuff, and Fuyah displayed innovative products from rural communities across Taiwan.
Looking Ahead
The Food Taipei Mega Shows 2024 successfully served as a global platform for food industry leaders, contributing to the growth of the international food market. The event is set to return next year, scheduled for June 25-28, 2025, at the Nangang International Exhibition Center, Hall 1 and Hall 2.
