When global pop sensation Dua Lipa visited Singapore in early November to launch her Radical Optimism world tour, she made time to explore the city’s renowned culinary scene. The star’s gastronomic adventure has since been shared with fans in her latest newsletter, sent on Dec 12 and also available on her lifestyle platform.
In her email, Lipa reflected on her favorite meals from the visit, praising flavors she described as “still dreaming about.” At the top of her list was the iconic Maxwell Food Centre in Chinatown, famous for its hawker fare, including Singapore’s beloved chicken rice.
The 29-year-old singer, who refrained from naming specific stalls, shared her thoughts on the experience: “Simple, delicious, and served with love.”
Lipa had previously posted about her visit to Maxwell on Instagram on Nov 6, where she and her companions were seen indulging in classic dishes such as chicken rice, nasi lemak, Nonya kueh, and tau huay from Lao Ban Soya Beancurd.
Local Favorites Make the List
Lipa’s culinary recommendations extended beyond Maxwell Food Centre. She highlighted 328 Katong Laksa, located on East Coast Road, calling the dish “one of Singapore’s iconic bowls.” She described laksa as a “spicy, soul-warming bowl you won’t forget.”
Another standout for Lipa was New Ubin Seafood, a popular zi char restaurant known for local specialties like chilli crab, cereal prawns, and fish head curry. “I’m still thinking about the fresh seafood at (New) Ubin,” Lipa wrote, adding: “If seafood is not your thing, don’t worry—there’s something on the menu for everyone.”
Both 328 Katong Laksa and New Ubin Seafood were also featured in her Instagram Stories and posts during her Singapore stay.
Sampling International Flavors
Singapore’s rich international dining scene wasn’t overlooked by Lipa. She praised Firangi Superstar, a modern Indian restaurant on Craig Road, calling it a “must-visit” for its innovative take on traditional Indian flavors.
She also raved about Nixta, a Mexican grill and bar on Amoy Street, describing it as “a huge highlight” of her trip. Lipa noted the restaurant’s smoky mezcal cocktails and “mouth-watering tacos,” saying it brought “Mexico to the heart of Singapore.”
The Radical Optimism World Tour
Dua Lipa’s visit to Singapore included two sold-out performances at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Nov 5 and 6, kicking off her Radical Optimism world tour. The tour, which supports her third studio album of the same name, will continue until October 2025.
After concluding the Asian leg in Seoul on Dec 5, Lipa announced a brief hiatus. Other stops on the Asian circuit included Saitama, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok. However, her Nov 9 show in Jakarta was canceled due to concerns over unsafe staging at the Indonesia Arena.
The tour will resume in Melbourne in March, with future legs planned across Europe and North America.
With her world tour and Singapore dining recommendations, Dua Lipa’s visit has left fans with plenty to savor—both musically and gastronomically.
