This week has seen a spate of significant product recalls, each presenting distinct safety concerns that consumers need to be aware of.
Lay’s Classic Potato Chips have come under scrutiny as Frito – Lay recalled 13 – ounce bags sold in Washington and Oregon. The problem lies in undeclared milk content, which poses a serious threat to those with milk allergies. Consumers should look for UPC 28400 31041, a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of Feb. 11, 2025, and manufacturing codes 6462307xx or 6463307xx. If allergic, these chips should either be returned or discarded.
NuGo’s Dark Chocolate Protein Bars are also part of the recall list. Sold at Costco in 11 states and Washington D.C., the 18 – count packs of Dark Chocolate Chip and Pretzel bars contain undeclared milk. Products sold between Oct. 2–Nov. 20, 2024, with “Best By” dates from Dec. 22–23, 2025, and lot numbers B24235A, B24235B, B24236A, or C24236A are affected. Costco shoppers are advised to return them for a refund.
Cal Yee’s Snacks, sold under Cal Yee’s, Cal Yee Farm, and Boa Vista Orchards brands, have been recalled due to undeclared allergens such as milk, soy, wheat, sesame, almonds, and Yellow #6 dye. The affected areas span Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Allergic consumers should avoid these products by carefully checking labels.
In the non – food category, Stanley Travel Mugs have been recalled in a massive recall of 2.6 million units. Faulty lids that can detach and cause hot liquid burns, resulting in 38 reported injuries, are the cause for concern. The recalled mugs come in white, black, or green colors, in 12 – oz, 16 – oz, and 20 – oz sizes, and were sold at major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Dick’s Sporting Goods from June 2016 to Dec. 2024. Users are urged to stop using them and request a free replacement lid via Stanley’s recall site or by calling 866 – 792 – 5445.
MadeGood Granola Bars have been found to contain metal fragments in multiple flavors, including Chocolate Chip, Mixed Berry, and more, manufactured between Jan. and Nov. 2024. Consumers who have these bars can return them for a refund or contact the company at 855 – 215 – 5695.
Finally, Aldi’s L’Oven Fresh Keto Multiseed Tortilla Wraps, distributed by Rise Baking Company, are recalled due to possible metal contamination. Shoppers should check their purchases and return the 6 – pack wraps to Aldi.
