4 Delicious Blueberry Desserts: How to Make them

Blueberries are a versatile and delicious fruit that can be used to create a wide range of delectable desserts. Whether you have fresh or frozen blueberries on hand, you can whip up a delightful treat to satisfy your sweet cravings. In this article, we’ll explore some mouthwatering desserts you can make with blueberries.

1. Blueberry Pie

Ingredients:

  1. 1 prepared pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  2. 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  3. 1 cup granulated sugar
  4. 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  5. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  6. 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  8. 1 tablespoon butter (for dotting the top)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, lemon zest, and salt. Toss to coat the berries evenly.
  3. Pour the blueberry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  4. Dot the top of the filling with small pieces of butter.
  5. Place a second pie crust on top and crimp the edges to seal. You can also create a lattice design with the crust.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. Allow the pie to cool before serving.

2. Blueberry Muffins

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  3. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  5. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  6. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  7. 2 large eggs
  8. 1 cup buttermilk
  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  10. 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  6. Spoon the batter into the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

3. Blueberry Crisp

Ingredients:

  1. 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  2. 1 cup rolled oats
  3. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  4. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  5. 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  6. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  8. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine blueberries and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Pour them into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix together oats, flour, brown sugar, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate it into the dry mixture until it forms coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the blueberries.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the blueberries are bubbling.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving. It’s delicious on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

4. Blueberry Cheesecake Bars

Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  2. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  3. 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  4. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  5. 2 large eggs
  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  7. 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press this mixture into the bottom of the baking dish to create the crust.
  3. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until well combined.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the blueberries evenly on top of the cream cheese layer.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are set, and the center is slightly jiggly.
  7. Allow the bars to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.
