Fans of The Original Crumbs Bakeshop have a new reason to celebrate. The popular bakery announced on Monday the return of its signature creativity with a bold new offering: the Colossal Cupcakes, which promise to be bigger and more exciting than ever.
These giant cupcakes weigh 68 ounces (4.25 pounds) each and are designed to serve about 20 people. They will be available in two flavors — Vanilla Birthday Cake and Cookies & Cream — at several major grocery chains nationwide this summer.
Gone are the days when last-minute celebrations meant choosing between plain sheet cakes or simple cookie trays. The new Colossal Cupcakes feature a fun surprise: they “explode” with sprinkles when cut, adding a festive touch to any party.
The Cookies & Cream cupcake includes rich chocolate cake filled with cookies and cream-flavored buttercream. It is topped with Crumbs’ signature buttercream and crunchy cookie pieces. The Vanilla Birthday Cake version features yellow confetti vanilla cake, rainbow sprinkles, and cream cheese frosting.
These giant treats will debut exclusively at Kroger family stores, including Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Mariano’s, Ralphs, and others. They will hit shelves just in time for summer’s official start on Friday, June 20.
“Our model has evolved, but our mission remains the same,” said Mia Bauer, co-founder of Crumbs Bakeshop, in an interview with Supermarket Perimeter magazine. “We launched CRUMBS to bring back the magic of neighborhood bakeries. Now, we want to bring that same premium quality to local supermarkets so shoppers can pick up fresh, delicious, showstopping CRUMBS desserts alongside their groceries.”
For those who cannot find the Colossal Cupcakes at nearby stores, other Crumbs baked goods remain available for nationwide shipping through Goldbelly.
