Ray & Mascari Inc. Recall
On May 3, Ray & Mascari Inc., based in Indianapolis, Indiana, recalled its 4 Count Vine Ripe Tomatoes packaged in clamshell containers. The tomatoes were sold at Gordon Food Service Stores in the following states:
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Michigan
- Missouri
- Mississippi
- New York
- Ohio
- Pennsylvania
- Tennessee
- Wisconsin
The recall followed a notification from the grower, Hanshaw & Capling Farms in Immokalee, Florida, regarding potential contamination. The tomatoes had been repackaged before distribution.
In a statement, Ray & Mascari warned that Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
No illnesses have been reported. Consumers are advised to dispose of the tomatoes and not eat them. For inquiries or to report illness, contact Ray & Mascari at 1-317-637-0234, Monday–Saturday, 6 a.m.–5 p.m. EST.
Williams Farms Repack LLC Recall
On May 2, Williams Farms Repack LLC issued a separate recall affecting tomatoes sold in South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. The company was informed by Southeast Tomato Distributors on April 29 that tomatoes supplied by H&C Farms might be contaminated.
The affected tomatoes were distributed between April 23 and April 28. No related illnesses have been reported.

Salmonella is a bacterial infection that can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. According to the Mayo Clinic, it spreads through contaminated food or water and poses heightened risks for vulnerable groups.
