Wendy’s fans are getting closer to making their favorite Baconator burgers at home. The popular fast-food chain recently gained attention for selling its branded beef patties in select grocery stores. Now, Wendy’s bacon has also appeared in some refrigerated sections.
Food blogger Remi4AllTheeSnackGod shared photos on Instagram on May 26 showing Wendy’s ground beef patties alongside a new product: Double-Smoked Bacon. The blogger found these items at a Kroger store in Kentucky, which is outside the original test markets of Colorado and Ohio. “Ran into Kroger to look for cotton candy Alani Nu, and came out with Wendy’s burgers instead!” they joked.
Social media users reacted with surprise and excitement. One wrote, “Whaaaat,” while another confirmed the patties “definitely taste like Wendy’s burgers.” Fans also praised the bacon, with one saying, “Wendy’s bacon is always [great].” Another user humorously suggested that Arby’s might be upset by Wendy’s new grocery products.
Though the bacon available in stores is not the exact “applewood smoked” variety served in Wendy’s restaurants, it brings customers closer to recreating their favorite Wendy’s meals at home. If Wendy’s eventually offers buns, cheese, and fries in stores, fans might no longer need to wait in long drive-thru lines late at night.
Currently, Wendy’s beef patties and bacon can be found at King Soopers and Kroger stores in select markets.
