Fans of Cheerwine can now enjoy the classic cherry-flavored soda in a new form. The soft drink company has partnered with Goo Goo Cluster, a well-known Southern candy maker, to create a limited-edition treat. This new product, called the Cheerwine Goo Goo Cluster, was officially introduced last weekend at the Cheerwine Festival in Salisbury, North Carolina, where the soda was first created.
The candy combines the original Goo Goo Cluster’s nougat and caramel layers with Cheerwine’s signature cherry flavor. It is then coated in milk chocolate and topped with freshly roasted peanuts. The makers describe this blend as a “delectable combination of Southern traditions.”
Joy Ritchie Harper, Cheerwine’s vice president of marketing, said the partnership celebrates two beloved brands in a way that is both nostalgic and exciting. She added that Cheerwine’s unique cherry flavor pairs well with many foods, including candy. Harper also praised Goo Goo Cluster’s commitment to quality and expressed excitement about sharing the new treat with fans.
The collaboration highlights the shared history of the two brands, which were founded within five years of each other. Goo Goo Cluster is the older brand by five years. Laurie Spradley, president of Goo Goo Cluster, called the partnership a perfect match and said it was a great way to celebrate two Southern legacies by creating something unique and delicious.
Early reviews from customers have been very positive. One described the new candy as “delicious,” while another said they were “obsessed” and urged the brands not to discontinue it. A third simply said, “Need to try.”
The Cheerwine Goo Goo Clusters are now available online in boxes of three individually wrapped 1.5-ounce clusters for $7.99. They will also be sold at Goo Goo Chocolate Co.’s Nashville flagship store, the Goo Goo Shop at Nashville airport, and select retailers nationwide throughout the summer.
