Costco has introduced a new frozen strawberry lemonade drink at its food courts, just in time for summer. Priced at $2.99 and containing 250 calories, the beverage is made with real fruit and contains no artificial flavors or colors, according to promotional posters displayed at Costco locations.
The new drink appears to have replaced the strawberry banana smoothie, which was launched earlier this year. Reactions from Costco members have been mixed. Some describe the frozen strawberry lemonade as refreshing and tasty, while others find it too tart or too sweet. One social media user noted, “Had one. It’s a bit tart so be prepared! But refreshing.” Another commented, “The strawberry banana was way better.” On Reddit, some users echoed similar sentiments, saying the drink was “good but too sweet” or “a little too tart.” One user shared that the strawberries used were similar to those from the sundae, which they appreciated as a nice touch.
A detailed account from a Reddit user revealed difficulties drinking the beverage due to fruit chunks clogging the straw. After blending the drink at home, they found it more drinkable but concluded it was not worth repurchasing for $6.59 for two drinks.
Costco’s food court has seen several changes recently. The fan-favorite combo pizza was reintroduced as the “Combo Calzone,” and the company announced it will replace Pepsi products with Coca-Cola fountain drinks later this year. Meanwhile, the popular churro was discontinued earlier in 2024.
Overall, while the frozen strawberry lemonade has its fans, some members remain nostalgic for previous offerings and are divided on the new flavor’s appeal.
