Wendy’s is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the iconic Goodyear Blimp with a special treat for customers: free Frostys.
On Tuesday, June 3, Wendy’s announced that U.S. customers could receive a free small Frosty with any purchase made through the restaurant’s app. The offer, which commemorates the blimp’s first flight by Akron-based Goodyear in 1923, is available until midnight local time on Wednesday, June 4.
In a playful twist, Wendy’s joked in the press release, “Unlike the blimp, this offer isn’t full of hot air; we’re seriously serving up the coolest treat in town, no strings (or helium) attached.”
The fast food chain is also giving fans the opportunity to try its new Frosty Swirls and Frosty Fusions, which launched in April and May, respectively. The Frosty Swirls feature a choice of vanilla or chocolate Frosty topped with strawberry, caramel, or brownie batter sauce, while the Frosty Fusions blend the sauces with mix-in toppings like Pop-Tarts or Oreo cookies.
Customers can indulge in unique combinations like the Pop-Tarts Strawberry Frosty Fusion, which includes chunks of strawberry Pop-Tarts and strawberry sauce, or the Oreo Brownie Frosty Fusion, which combines brownie batter sauce with Oreo cookie pieces. Another option, the Caramel Crunch Frosty Fusion, adds toffee pieces and caramel sauce to the classic Frosty base.
Whether you stick with the classic or opt for one of the new creations, Wendy’s has made it easier to celebrate the Goodyear Blimp’s milestone with a cool and delicious treat.
